How Much Does Itcost To Repair Primary To Transmission Leak On A 2003 Harly Dyna

I have had this manual fluid leak for a few months now and I can't take it any more than! When I mentioned information technology to my dealer about the dripping on my garage flooring he said something about once they get "in there" it could be really expensive and there is no guarantee that it would be fixed properly. He said Harley's leak oil. I am non buying that! I am at the betoken right at present where i don't care what information technology takes to end the leaking, I simply want it stock-still! I honey this bike but I don't want the oil on my garage floor like my old Chrysler did! Any thought on what I should exercise or what's causing it? How much is it going to cost me?

Starting time off, I would go to another dealer. He looks like he'south setting you up for a bigger nib than necessary.
What you lot have to do it to make clean the entire area well and see if you can locate the source of the leak. It may be something small like a blocked vent line merely you didn't mention what area it was coming from.
If it'south coming from the area behind the pulley, then it gets a bit more than involved. Which side of the bike is it coming from and are you sure it isn't a main leak instead of the trans?

The key hither is to locate where it's coming from.
Thanks Glider. I didn't similar his answer either. I will wipe the area down real good and take note where the leak is coming from. I'll get back to you on that. If I take information technology to some other shop, would an independent shop be okay? I do want to stay with the Hard disk drive shop where I bought the wheel but not if they are trying to pork me.
My clutch cable was loose where it screws into the transmission. The oil was seeping out and running down the cable to a low point where it dripped on the garage floor. Tightened information technology and problem solved. I don't know if your problem is something this simple, but information technology's a thought.
I capeesh it. I am going to take it out for a ride when information technology is not raining and follow Gliders communication and try to locate the specific spot from where it is coming from. I'll bank check out the clutch cable also while I'1000 at it. I would love a unproblematic and inexpensive fix.
Independent or HD shop, who always has the practiced rep is where I would go. Best to wash it and dry information technology good then you tin can see whatever further signs of leakage.

I have. I have kept an eye on the tranny every bit well as the oil. It is the transmission where I have to add a few ounces of oil at to the lowest degree once a calendar week, depending on how often I ride. That is only about every day that it isn't raining. I should accept mentioned that at the commencement about adding tranny fluid. That would've made the diagnosis easier.

When I first got my Roadking information technology leaked trans oil. Information technology drove me nuts as well. With help from this site and my transmission I removed the outer and inner primary , pulled trans output pulley and inverse the quad seal. Has never leaked a driblet since. I don't think the Twin cams leak oil. My floor is ever spotless. You volition find the problem. Don't surrender.
Practise what Glider said make clean it real good then notice. The newer Harley's don't leak unless something is wrong. As a matter of fact the one-time shovels didn't actually leak, they dripped from the chain oiler. So don't have the premise.
